Mostly postcard pictures.
My practice exists somewhere between documentary observation and constructed emptiness — a meditation on what happens when humans exit the frame, or remain so distant they become merely suggestions of scale. I'm drawn to the theme of a human-altered nature. The beauty in it, and the tragedy. There's an honesty in these spaces that feels more truthful to life.
I work primarily with analog photography, embracing it wholeheartedly because, after all, the best things in life are analog. I turn to digital when I feel like it or circumstances demand it.
I photograph to take a closer look, to distract myself with impressions of reality.
Despite all of this — or perhaps because of it — I'm mostly taking postcard pictures.
